She Fell Into a Fountain

You probably saw it on TV.  A woman was walking through a shopping mall with a cell phone in her hands and her thumbs typing away on the texting pad.  She was so caught up with her text messaging that she was paying no attention to where she was or where she was headed.  She walked straight into a short wall and fell head first into a large pool of water.

A more serious event occurred when the New York Jets football team beat the New England Patriots.  One man was so elated that he ran out of his home, jumped on a snow sled, and sailed down his driveway.

The texting lady ended up in a fountain but was left with nothing more than the red face of embarrassment.  The man on the sled, however,  sailed out into traffic and was killed.

These two people were so caught up in the moment that they did not see the danger that was right in front of them.

Are You Like These Two ?

Are you one of those who is caught up with the “Here and Now;”  One who has given no thought to what lies ahead?  If you are,  you need to know that this world is not all there is.   Ahead of us is an eternal judgment.

The Bible tells us this:  “It is appointed for men to die once but after this the judgment.”   Hebrews 9:27

Death Is Certain, And So Is The Judgment.

Sports fans know the name: Don Meredith.  They remember him for his association with “Monday Night Football.”  Mr. Meredith was fond of wrapping up those Monday night games with a silly song.  It went like this:  “Turn out the lights, the Party’s Over.”

Friends, This world is coming to an end.  The party will one day come to an end and you and I will meet God.  Don’t be like the man who ignored the end of the road and sailed out into traffic.  Don’t be like the lady who walked aimlessly along till she stumbled into the fountain.  Instead, remember the Word of God

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be ALERT,  SERIOUS,  and PRAYFUL     1 Peter 4:7
