No More Sea
I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Revelation 21:1
There are a number of “no mores” mentioned in the Bible. The new creation is a place where there is “No more death,” “No more sorrow,” and “No more pain.”
I have no trouble understanding these three “No mores” but what is Revelation 21:1 promising when it promises that the new earth will have “No more sea?” What is wrong with the sea? Isn't standing by the sea and hearing its waves refreshing for a great number of people?
For the answer we need to think about another time and another place. When John penned the Book of Revelation everyone knew that the sea was a very dangerous place. The sea was a place from which many people never returned. To John’s contemporaries the sea was a place of mystery and a place from which furious storms and other dangers arose.
When the Bible says that there will be “No more sea” in the new earth, it is promising us something very wonderful. In the new earth there will be no more turbulence, no more dangers, and no more storms. Families will never again stare at the ocean wondering if it has swallowed their loved ones.
I’m looking forward to it, how about you? Have you made preparations to enter the new earth? You prepare by receiving the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior
“ … if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10 9-13
